Birch #2 plays with contrast—cool white trunks against intense autumn color, delicate vertical lines against dense foliage, and the small familiar form of a basket tucked into a much larger landscape. The panoramic composition gives the piece a sense of depth and stillness, like coming upon a beautiful stretch of the course on a crisp fall day.
