A gathering of birds takes flight across an expansive, otherworldly landscape in Birds of the Ungotten. Some emerge boldly in the foreground, wings fully extended, while hundreds more become silhouettes against the distant sky. Below them, a disc golf basket stands beneath the branches of a bare tree as the land stretches toward a lonely tree on the horizon.

There’s a wonderful sense of movement in this piece—the birds seem to pour out of the landscape and into the sky, contrasting with the stillness of the basket and stark winter terrain below. Its unusually long panoramic format makes the scene feel almost cinematic, with your eye traveling from the detailed birds at one end all the way across the open landscape.
